Q : I have old dentures, which I like, but I need new ones. I am worried that new dentures will look different. What should I do?

A : The look of your new dentures is totally up to you. You can choose to make it very different, or no different at all. You can preview your new dentures with a wax-based mockup, as a part of the denture construction process. At this point, you are free to make any changes to ensure that your dentures will have the exact appearance of your preference.

 

Q : My dentures are causing sores on my gums. How can it be fixed?

A : There could be many different issues with the dentures to cause sore spots. Also, there may be different health issues that may also affect oral tissues to become more vulnerable to discomfort.

First, you should have your dentures checked. These problems may be fixed by a simple adjustment, or sometimes a complete new set of dentures. For chronic soreness, we can apply a soft lining to prevent abrasion between your gum and dentures.

For any denture problems, you should speak to a denturist. In most situations, soreness issues can be addressed.

 

Q : When I speak, dentures sometimes make a clicking sound. How can it be fixed?

A : These dentures may have different issues.

- If the dentures were made using porcelain, porcelain is harder than plastic teeth and more prone to make much louder sounds when they come in contact.
- Your dentures may be loose and rattle to make the clicking sounds.
- If the dentures are too big, it may also cause clicking sounds.

There are many other reasons for these problems, and you should speak to a denturist for more specific information regarding your denture issues.
